9 Review

Hey, everyone, sorry for the long delay. I know a lot of you want to know what my thoughts are on this film, and have the answer right here. 9, the CGI animated film directed by Shane Acker and produced by Tim Burton, was a pretty good film, and has that great goth like atmosphere that Burton is known for. I greatly enjoyed the film, but I felt that somethings were a bit off, but I will get to them as the review progresses.

First of all, like I said in my District 9 review, I wish this movie was called something else, so people would not get it confused with District 9, another film that came out at the time. But who I am to complain, the movie was released on September 9th, how creative is that for a movie called 9 to come out on 9/9/09. So anyway, the movie is about these 9 creations called the Stitchpunks who must fight off these evil robotic creatures sometime after the apocalypse right here on Earth. I think the story was pretty well constructed, and fit the dark, yet, interesting atmosphere of the film. As the film expanded, I got sucked into the plot, and was dazzled by the interesting special effects that the producers had to offer. I also like the voices by some of my favorite actors, like Elijah Wood, Christopher Plummer, and Crispin Glover, who have had quite a streak playing voices in movies lately.

Some stuff I didn’t like is that some of the parts were a little boring, and didn’t have any zest. I also didn’t think that some of the stuff in this film didn’t fit the overall setting of the story, but it’s okay. I like this movie an awful lot, and think that everyone that worked on this film did a fantastic job. It’s not up there with Up and District 9, but it was darn good. I hope a sequel is in the works…hey..that’s an odd title. 9 2. Ha, Ha, Ha! Maybe they will call it something else. But anyway, a great film for a great day. It’s ironic that I also recieved a 99% on a test on 9/9/09 as well. So many 9s, I think my head will spin 9 times.

Well, I hope you enjoyed my review of 9. Stay tuned for another installment of Halloween Fridays tomorrow evening when I review a monster that you are all familiar with, but I won’t tell you who.
