Some of My Favorite Movie Villains

Movie Villains. You know them, love them. And some times you hate there guts. Well, here is a top ten list of my some of my favorite movie villains, because even though they are evil, they are cool and a majority of the time they are our favorite character of the film.

10. Orlok

He’s big. He’s bad. He has long fingers. He’s Count Orlok, the blood sucking vampire in the earliest film based of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Though silent, and somewhat doppy in some scenes, Orlok is a bad ass villain, and Max Schreck brings out the character so well, in his exuberant performance. Sink your teeth into that.

9. Wolf Man

Lon Chaney Jr. played the Wolf Man in this film, in which his character, Larry Talbot, is bitten by a werewolf and is told by a gypsie that he will turn into a hideous wolf creature on the night of the full moon. And thus, the Wolf Man was born, haunting the souls in the cinema at the time. But no matter how you put it, the Wolf Man is classic and willing to bite anyone who gets in the way.

8. Mola Ram

Ah yes, the heart ripping Thuggee priest himself, Mola Ram, the villain from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Though so layed back to other classic villains, he has a charm that will never be matched. Doing strange things, like making Indiana Jones drink the blood of Kali Ma, or sending someone down a firey pit, he is very unique to other movie villains and with that hideous worship hat, who gets in the way.

7. Lady Tremain

God, I do not like this woman. She is a tyrannical, old wrinkled wicked witch from that Disney classic, Cinderella. And in some scenes, I just want to slap the crap out of her. Like treating Cinderella like vermin, and making her life a living hell, God I ask myself why do people like that exist. Well, she is terrible, but that’s what makes a villain, that’s why she is on my list.

6.Scar

Another villain I’m not to fond of, from the hit Disney classic, The Lion King. With a reputation of evil, Scar was vicious, seductive and very cruel. It was very sad when he killed Mufasa, Simba’s father and how he brutally tries to take over Pride Rock with his hungry band of hyenas. But with all of that evilness, Scar is on my list because like most villains, he does everything for his own benefits, not for someone else’s. An act of greed and selfishness, lying in almost all villains.

5. Lord Voldemort

I’m not the biggest fan of Harry Potter, but when it comes to villains, I have got to include Lord Voldemort. He will make you sick to your stomach, will put you in the edge of your seat, and spook you for the rest of the evening. With a snake head and a magic wand to fight with, Voldemort sure knows how to stop Harry Potter from defeating him, with dark and evil spells up his sleeve.

4. The Joker

Okay, I am not going to say a specific Joker, so I am just going to include all the Jokers from all the Batman films. Whether it’s Caesar Romero, Jack Nicholson, or of course, Heath Ledger, the actors really display the character in many different ways. Based upon the silent film, The Man Who Laughs, the Joker is a character with style and a taste to destroy the caped crusader himself, Batman.

3. The Wicked Queen

Ah yes, perhaps Disney’s most charished villain. The Wicked Queen is more then evil. She is very gruesome and more violent then any other Disney villain in my opinion. She wants Snow White’s heart cut out and put into a box, and she creates a potion that would change her into an old hag. In my opinion, that’s bizarre for a villain. But she is brilliant and wicked, as all villains are, and it would be a grateful mistake not to include her in my top ten list.

2. Darth Vader

Darth Vade. An icon. A legend. A dark lord. Played by David Prowse and voiced by James Earl Jones ( the same voice as Mufasa in the Lion King), Darth Vader had us all at the edge of terror when we first saw Star Wars. He may be sinister and vile on the outside, but on the inside, he is a tortured soul. Now by adding the prequel Star Wars films, we see he has been through many tragedies, which led him over to the dark side. With a red lightsaber, and a hand to choke with, Darth Vader will always be the true symbol of the entire Star Wars saga.

and number one is……

1. The Wicked Witch of the West

The Wizard of Oz is a timeless classic. But would it had been as popular as it is without Margaret Hamilton as the green skinned witch. Her role as the witch was over the top, taking the character from L. Frank Baum’s book and shape shifting it a bit. But no matter what, she is the topper of my list, with her flying monkeys and her broom, and not to mention her ways to terrorize Dorothy and her friends on their way to see the Wizard of Oz.
Well, that’s it folks. I hope you enjoyed my list. I will be back with many more reviews soon. Take care.
